Mallet crafting working
The Round House at Rose was the perfect location.
We embraced our creativity, holding space for all the ladies to craft their own mallets using hazel and cherry wood.
Hazel Wood
Hazel wood’s combination of durability, flexibility, and workability makes it an excellent choice for crafting a reliable and long-lasting mallet. Hazel is a symbol of wisdom and knowledge; it enhances a person’s intuition and has long been seen as a protective member of the forest.
Cherry Wood
Cherry wood is associated with creativity and artistic inspiration. Cherry trees and their blossoms symbolize the beauty of renewal and the transient nature of life.
Mallet making is a resilient activity; it certainly gets the blood pumping as you realise just how much of a workout sawing and whittling can be.
It’s a welcome time for the mind as well, allowing you to enter a mindful trance as you get lost in the whittling process.
After the creation process was complete, the ladies tested the full potential of their new tools by using them to press flowers into material, creating simple but beautiful wall hangings.
